Rasoul Akhmatov Personal Information

Rasoul Akhmatov is an accomplished artist and a writer who exhibited nationally and internationally, including many group exhibitions and seven one-man shows in the United States, Russia and Germany. His art has been featured in many publications in Russia, he has been interviewed on television and in leading national magazines and written about in numerous articles. Many of his paintings are in private collections in the U.S., Canada, Russia, France and Germany. He also writes non-fiction stories and novels; two of his published works have been highly acclaimed both by critics and readers.
Rasoul is originally from Russia where he grew up in a picturesque region at the foothills of the Mount Elbrus, the highest in Europe, but moved to the United States 15 years ago. While living on Manhattan's Upper West Side, Rasoul conducted various artistic and renovation projects, such as re-creation of damaged or ruined frescoes - painting on fresh plaster - in churches all around New York City while working as a leading artist for a NY restoration company. He also performed and completed a number of display art projects: creating window and interior design for well-known stores, such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks, mastering the exterior design for Bulgari on Manhattan's Fifth Ave, and many others. Currently Rasoul resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rasoul Akhmatov works in a post-expressionist manner but is always looking for new ways of expression. He prefers oil on canvas to other mediums. The subject of his paintings is most often the nature and the place of a human being in it.
